Evana Automation Delivers Automated Process Cell That Improves Operator Safety, Throughput and Overall Quality

Customer: Automotive Steering Systems Manufacturer
Challenge: TAKT time, identification marking and positional load/unload of pump shafts
Root Cause: The current manual process did not control the location of the part stamping and allowed misloading of hot pump shafts into the shot blast station.
Solution: Evana put an emphasis on a robotic solution that replaced the operator with a Fanuc M-6iB robot. The process consisted of automatically picking the shaft from incoming conveyance, placing it correctly into the marking station and then loading and unloading a shot blast station. The robot also transferred outgoing shafts to the next operation.
Result: The robotic solution corrected shafts from poor or incorrect marking, improved safety by removing the need for an operator to handle hot parts and improved throughput.
